3. Are the products safe? What do I do if I have a reaction? Answer: The products have been tested and are proven to be hypoallergenic. They are safe for even the most sensitive skin types. When starting any new skincare regimen, including Glissandra™, it’s important to conduct a standard skin sensitivity test. Simply apply a small amount of the products on the upper arm. 4. Do your products contain parabens, and if so, why? I have been told to look for natural products that are paraben free. Answer: Yes, we use parabens in our products. The controversy surrounding parabens focuses on alleged estrogenic activity and potential carcinogenesis, and it's based on a single study published in 2004, which was inconclusive. The fear of parabens, none the less, propagated quickly leading consumers to ask for paraben-free products and manufacturers to embrace that demand. However, both scientists and regulatory agencies continue to agree that there is no clearly established epidemiological link between parabens and breast cancer. It is the replacement of parabens by other, less-known, preservative systems that could present a consumer risk. As for Glissandra, when we find a more suitable and safe alternative, we will phase out parabens. 5. What do international safety assessments say about parabens? Answer: The American Cancer Society has concluded, based on its research findings, that the scientific and medical research does not support a claim that the use of parabens in cosmetics can increase an individual’s risk of developing breast cancer. http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/antiperspirants-and-breast-cancer-risk The FDA began studying the effects of parabens in response to the outcry of their potential estrogenic effect and link to breast cancer. 6. Do you use synthetic or natural occurring parabens in your products? Answer: The parabens we use are naturally occurring chemicals. It's ironic because many natural skin-care brands claim ingredients like parabens are dangerous, when in fact parabens have exhaustive safety data AND are naturally produced by vegetables and fruits. Foods such as soy, beans, flax, cherries, blueberries, carrots, and cucumbers produce parabens and other chemicals that mimic estrogen—to a much greater degree than the miniscule amounts of parabens used in our products. ^TOP

7. Do you plan on discontinuing the use of parabens? Answer: If and when we find a natural product that is proven to be a safe alternative to parabens, we will phase out their use. We are constantly looking for the best ingredients to use in our products and we are not convinced that currently available natural occurring anti-bacterials and anti-fungals are safe. ^TOP
